Teddy is a very sweet, approximately 10-year-old Chesapeake Bay Retriever Mix fostered in Austin. 

Teddy's story is unfortunately not unusual. He was a senior dog dumped or abandoned and wandered up to an old country store. The store owner put up flyers, but no one ever claimed him so animal control was called.  When Teddy arrived at the shelter, the staff fell in love with him and tried fervently to find a forever or foster home for him.

Teddy is still very alert and fairly playful for his age (tug-of-war, catching balls tossed to him, and chewing on new stuffed toys), and still loves to take walks (about 1/2 mile) and follows his foster mom everywhere, but he was recently diagnosed with hypothyroidism and Cushing's disease in addition to his hip dysplasia and severe arthritis. His normal monthly medical care costs approximately $55. 

We have elected to keep him on permanent foster status unless a home can be found which understands he may not have long to live.  In any event, anything to help defray the costs would be greatly appreciated.  Please be sure to indicate your contribution is for Teddy so it will be used for his medical needs.
